The search for a screenwriter for “Calculated” has ended with OneDoor Studios signing Ann Peacock to write the script for the upcoming film.
As reported on Entertainment Newswire, Peacock will be writing the screenplay for the major motion picture adaptation for the first book in the young adult series by Wise Wolf Books’ Nova McBee. Peacock is known for her screenwriting credits with “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and “A Lesson Before Dying.”
“Calculated,” the first book in a best-selling young adult action-adventure thriller series published by Wolfpack, was recently shortlisted as a finalist for the International Thriller Writers (ITW) Award for Best Young Adult Novel 2022.
Peacock was drawn to the project because of the unique protagonist as well as the setting in Shanghai.
“I love the novel’s concept – a young girl ripped from her family and trafficked for her superpowers who must use her ingenuity to escape and get home,” Peacock said. “I love the overall message – use your gift for good. As of March 9, OneDoor Studios has raised the $2 million development costs and has funded the production budget of the film as well.
OneDoor Studios’ hopes to complete shooting the film by September 2023. Production is set to begin in early 2024 with “Calculated’s” premiere targeted to release in second quarter 2025.
