We are happy to announce the launch of Wise Wolf Books, Wolfpack Publishing’s new imprint, led by myself, Associate Publisher Rachel Del Grosso. You can read the official press release here. Wise Wolf will publish books within the Teen/Young-Adult genres and is now seeking submissions, particularly those in a series, from all regions of the world.
Our aim is to publish teen/young-adult books from writers of all genders, ethnicity, race, and ability that young readers will love while also staying true to our unique business model and what has worked well for us in the past. Now, more than ever, young readers want to simultaneously be transported from their lives and recognize themselves in the characters they read about, making it an exciting time to be writing and publishing in the teen/ya genre.
Growing up I was a big fan of The Boxcar Children and Babysitter’s Club (which has just been made into a Netflix series that I’m going to have to check out regardless of the fact that I am indeed in my mid-thirties), and I can’t imagine anything more thrilling than being able to publish a series even remotely as lovable as either of these. I guess you could say this is on my #MSWL (manuscript wish list).
Actually, let’s make it official.
My Manuscript Wish List
Teen
- Teen series like The Babysitter’s Club
- Elements including strong friendships, peer pressure, self-esteem and bullying
- Dear Diary type books
- Edgy books like the Track Series by Jason Reynolds
Young Adult
- Contemporary, mystery, thriller/suspense, action-adventure, horror, westerns
- Elements including strong female leads, diverse families, small towns, unexpected circumstances, smart underlying social commentary, quirky characters
- Anything with an edge
- Fun teen rom-coms like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, preferably in a series
- Edgy series/characters like Riverdale
- Bold, unexplored settings
- Quirky
With that being said, let’s talk about what I’m not looking for. This is simply a list of what I am not necessarily interested in and would be a bad fit for.
- Fantasy or sci-fi of any sort
- Christian or historical fiction (though you can check out our other imprint for Christian and inspirational genres)
- Picture books, children’s books
- Non-fiction
- Screenplays
- Erotic romance
